One wall down...
I started painting our bedroom today.
Three more walls to go!And then on to the rest of the house!
So much to do...
So far this morning I fed the cats and the dogs, scooped the litter box, started the dishwasher, threw in a load of laundry and had a cup of coffee. I still need to get Pig-pig some fresh greens, but he does has have fresh water and hay, thanks to Jeff. The boys are still sleeping! Amazing that Keith hasn't been waking up at 6/6:30am the past few days!!
I need to paint the house! Starting with my bedroom!! Yesterday I was going to start prepping - taping and moving stuff out of the way. I got as far as cleaning out the closet, (which I'm not even planning on painting), I gathered the clothes together for donating and I took the curtain down. At least I did something. We went to the library yesterday to pick up the book that I had reserved - Seven Wild Sisters, by Charles De Lint - took them long enough to get the book. I was waiting for at least three weeks! We dropped a bag off at Goodwill, then went to Walmart and managed to spend a bunch of money. I have a couple of plants that need transplanting and I got the cutest pot for one of them! It looks like a giant coffee/tea cup!! The other plant is just going to have to deal with a plain old boring green pot. I hope I don't kill the plants in the process of moving them!
The boys went swimming at Mama's yesterday. What else is new? Keith goes there everyday and usually wants to go there twice a day. It takes a little convincing to get Randy to go - he's too addicted to the games on the computer!
Wish me luck with getting something more significant accomplished today! :)

San Diego
It was great!!! We left here Saturday morning after breakfast. I'm not sure what time it was, but it did take 5 hours to get there. I drove halfway and Jeff got us the rest of the way. It was a pretty boring ride, but there were some interesting things to see. We saw some wind mills, a lopsided truck, some border patrol check points and the boys felt like we were on the planet of Tatooine while we drove through parts of California.
When we got to Louise's, they were ready for us with snacks - we were introduced to hummus - i've bought some since we got home - it's yummy, really. That night, we had some spaghetti and meatless meatballs for dinner. You figure the kids would like that (minus the meatballs), but they didn't. Our first night was very interesting. The boys went to bed around 9pm and we went to bed about an hour later. Around 11:30, Randy got up to go to the bathroom - no big deal, right? Well he started to throw up and not just once! Ugh!!! Man it got everywhere! I got him cleaned up and sent him back to bed and then I spent the next half an hour cleaning the bathroom! What a way to start off a vacation!
The next morning, which was Sunday, we weren't sure if we going to make it to Legoland. Star Wars weekend was only Saturday and Sunday - that was the whole reason of going to begin with! But we made it there and Randy was fine. Legoland was pretty cool. Definitely not worth the cost, but now we can say we've been there, done that and we don't have to go back. They had tons of cool stuff made out of legos and they had some rides. The boys rode their first roller coaster! They also bought themselves a small star wars lego toy while we were there. After Legoland we took a ride down the coast to get close to the beach. It was incredibly busy and we couldn't find a parking spot anywhere close to the water. We did go down a street that ended at the water so we took a few pics there.
Dinner on Sunday night was great! Tom roasted two chickens and roasted some veggies too. The boys got mashed potatoes and corn with their chicken --nice and simple - they chowed down. We all slept well that night!
Monday we went to see the USS Midway aircraft carrier. That was really cool. We each got headsets and did our own paced, self guided tour. We got a guided tour of the bridge.
We ate our lunch by the water, looking at the USS Nimitz - an active, nuclear carrier. The boys made out like bandits on this trip... they each got to pick out a puzzle plane. That kept them entertained for quite a while - putting them together and then playing with them. They each picked out a patch too. Not sure where we'll be putting the patches - they don't even own real jackets (not because I'm a bad mom, just because we don't need them here).
After the Midway, we went to Coronado island. We admired the mansions and other nice houses. We saw the "haunted" Coronado Hotel, but we didn't go inside. We went on the beach and let the boys get all wet with their jeans on. The weather was on the chilly side to me - really windy and of course the water was really cold, but the boys didn't mind. I couldn't believe there were people there in bathing suits actually going into the water - crazy!
That night, Ron came over to see us and joined us for dinner. Louise made lasagna - the boys loved it! That made Louise happy. She even made sugar cookies for them for dessert!
Monday night it rained and it still wasn't too cold - I was really afraid of being cold while we were there. We got to use the fireplace - so I guess it did get chilly, but I loved it because the fire was so nice!
Tuesday we went to the Leatherneck Aviation museum. It was a free museum with a bunch of airplanes and choppers outside and some interesting things to see inside. At this stop, Randy got a digital camo t-shirt, bandana and a box of planes and Keith got an aircraft carrier toy. I found some $5 shirts, so Jeff and I each got one.
After the Leatherneck Museum, we went to La Jolla to check out the beach again. We saw baby squirrels - there were tons of them running around. One even chased Keith a bit! It was really pretty there - the houses were gorgeous and the shops were out of our league. So we went to Seaport Village, which is such a cool place! We had lunch at the Harbor House and then hit up just about every single store! Here the boys only got pins... Randy chose a 1 star general pin and Keith picked one with a gun on it (of course). We had some Ben & Jerry's ice cream - which was outrageously overpriced, but my cakebatter ice cream was really delicious! The boys got to play with wooden guns that shoot rubber bands - they have these same guns at home, but of course they wanted bigger ones. They also got to play with other gun type things in the kite store. We found a store that sold stuff that looked seriously boring - everything was black and white. T-shirts, freesbies, keychains, even nail polish --- as soon as the sun hit the stuff, it turned colors! It was neat, but we didn't buy anything there. I was in "The Soap Opera" - yes, a store where they sell soap --- and Jeff came in to tell me that there were people outside speaking Hungarian. Sure enough they came in the store and I understood their whole funny little conversation!
When we finally got back to Louise's, Tom was already making soup. They fed us, entertained us and put up with us! Tom even bought the movie Mall Cop for the boys and we all watched it together on our last night there. It was a great trip and we had the best time!!
We made it home safe and sound with only one semi-scary thing happening. A tire on the pickup truck right in front of me blew out and all the big chunks and pieces came flying toward us. I did manage to avoid most of it and we were fine! Once I dropped the boys off at home, I headed out to pick up the doggies! And I know Julia (the pet sitter) was really glad about that!! She had Ace waking her up at all hours of the night! The crazy dog! But she is willing to watch them again next time! :)

No school.... is so nice!
The boys have been out of school since last Wednesday. Keith still wakes up super early, but it's ok because we don't have to worry about rushing around and getting out of the house by a specific time. There has been swimming at mama's, tv watching, some hanging out and taking it easy! My kind of living! The boys and I went to see the movie UP last Friday. That was a good movie! I worked over the weekend. Homie made us some dinner Saturday night, by the time I got home from work and Sunday we went to Pei Wei for dinner. Yesterday we walked to Subway to get dinner - and since Keith doesn't like Subway, we got him a slice of Brother's Pizza. Tomorrow we're planning on meeting some friends at the Buckeye pool - hope it gets hotter by then! And Saturday we leave for Cali! Legoland and San Diego! Yay!

Old Towne Scottsdale, pizza and ice cream...
Sunday we took a ride to Old Towne Scottsdale...
It was fun. I didn't realize it was like that - shops, galleries, jewelry galore, southwestern stuff & restaurants. We had lunch at Nello's - pizza for me and the boys, sausage sandwich for Jeff. We went into a bunch of stores, saw lots of neat things and managed to find an affordable jellyfish in glass paperweight for Keith!!! We also couldn't leave without getting some ice cream at The Sugar Bowl - the oldest ice cream joint in town! Well, I didn't have ice cream, I had a root beer float - actually two, because Keith couldn't finish his! Randy had some cookies and cream and Jeff had chocolate chip! Of course I found a bunch of things that I will be buying as soon as I hit the lottery!! The coolest cowgirl boots ever and this jacket sort of thing - it's not a jacket - it's more like a super cool long shirt type of thing. It was neat, but not worth the asking price without having plenty of disposable income.
Jeff went into work around midnight last night, so he came home at 10:30 this morning - we went to the Wildflower Bread Company for breakfast. It was delicious!! I love their ham and brie frittata!! We also went to Rue 21 to return a shirt that I bought last week. It had a hole in it -- from their stupid security device! So I got two shirts and three dollars back!!! And I told them that their security doohickeys are making holes in the clothes -- wonder if they'll change that.
After that, we picked the boys up from school - they have one more day to go!! The boys went to Mama's for a swim and I went to get a pedicure! Traded in my orange toes for blue ones. Jeff stayed home and fixed the never-ending issues with our computers.
I forget to take the camera these days - sorry for the lack of current pics! I'll try to remember next time!
