Ah Friday... the start of the weekend for normal people. I have to work tomorrow. And once the boys are off from school for the summer I will be working Saturdays and Sundays. At least I get to be home with them during the week. Our only plans for the summer are in June. We will be going to San Diego and
Legoland! Should be fun. The plans to go back to Jersey this summer have fallen through - maybe next year. (And Natalie, I did look up flights to Idaho, but I don't think that will fit in the budget.)
This past Sunday we went to Jerome, AZ an old mining town in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Now a legendary ghost town and artist's community, it has a variety of museums and shops. And the Haunted Hamburger - where we ate..... yup, you guessed it - hamburgers!! And a ghost put a crumb in my hair. Actually the ghosts liked to take hammers when the place was being renovated. We went into a few of the shops and galleries and found some neat stuff. In one gallery Keith found a glass sculpture with jellyfish inside - he was really
fascinated with it. We asked how much it cost and were told it was $2000 -- the thing was no bigger than a small gold fish bowl! They had smaller glass jellyfish paperweights and the cheapest of those was $200. Needless to say, Keith did not get one, even though he kept asking. The boys did get cactus lollipops and ice cream. Jeff got nothing and I got a shirt. As we were leaving, we walked past a bar and noticed a guy outside - who just so happened to be my uncle! It was pretty funny that we ran into him up there!
Monday was Jeff's birthday. Poor guy didn't get any presents from his wife or kids. But he did get cake - two different kinds even! I did order a present, but managed to skip over the part where it said it would take 2 to 3 weeks for delivery. He's got about one more week to wait. Also on Monday, I got to spend 2 hours sitting in WalMart, getting two new tires and an oil change. That wasn't fun, but I did read my book and that kept me entertained. Although when I got to the end of it, I was disappointed - just like with the X-files - they didn't explain any of the craziness. It made me kinda mad. Elizabeth Engstrom’s Northwood Chronicles - the stories are good, but the ending stinks! Big time!!! I have started reading "The Onion Girl" by Charles De Lint - so far so good! I have Jennifer to thank for that - she's letting me borrow the book :)
Tuesday. Tuesday... anybody remember Tuesday? All I can remember is that I took the doggies to the vet. They both needed bloodwork. And thinking of that now, reminds that they haven't called me with any results yet. Hmm..... I think the boys and I might have gone swimming at Mama and Papa's house that day.
Wednesday was the Learning Fair at school. Each grade works on major projects and then they are displayed for all to see. First grade learned about the rainforest and each child had to pick a rainforest animal to do a report on and make a model or diarama. Keith chose Lemurs. Third grade was working on national monuments and symbols. Randy chose the White House. He had to write a report, make a pamphlet and construct a model. They both did great!
Yesterday was a really busy day at work. That was nice. The time flew by and I went home with a little cash in my pocket. The rest of the day was nice, quiet and normal - (I think - although if anything bad happened, I'd probably remember it).
It's been cloudy here for the past few days - very strange - very unlike AZ. Last night it rained. Actual rain and for quite awhile. Everything was all wet this morning and still is. So in the rain this morning, Jeff was going to go to work... until he tried to start Clownie --- and that didn't happen. The battery was completely dead. The charger didn't work on it, but finally he was able to jump start it with Smelley. So he went to work and then got a ride to the Mini dealership to get a new battery -- which he somehow managed to get for free. Free is always nice!!!!
Tonight I get to go out to dinner with my friends for Amy's birthday. We are going to Taps (no, not "the atlantic paranormal society") Signature Cuisine & Bar in Litchfield Park. Should be fun, provided that it's not too crowded. In case you didn't know, I hate crowds!
Happy Memorial Day everyone!!
