I've been slacking with this blogging thing....

Let's see what I can remember.
Thursday May 15th I went to the Sand Bar with friends from work for a surprise birthday party for the owner of our shop. She innocently wrote that she collects chickens - so we decided to get her some live baby chicks!! Two of them. It was interesting to say the least. She was surprised -- she thought she was either getting a new car or diamonds, but she got us and chickens!!
Saturday May 17th Randy went to his first LAN party with Jeff. They were gone from about noon and didn't get home until midnight. I stayed home from work and hung out with Keith. We went to Starbucks, Target, Walmart and Mama & Papa's. Keith went swimming - I just watched.
Sunday the 18th was Jeff's birthday. We went to Ruby Tuesday's for dinner -- and we would not recommend anyone going there. It stunk!
Wednesday the 21st was the Learning Fair at school. We got to check out all the projects that the kids have been working on. Second grade did an amazing job - they seemed to do a heck of a lot more work than some of the older grades.
Thursday the 22nd was dinner at the school for the PTSA -- we had the new pasta from Pizza Hut, it was pretty good.
Friday the 23rd, Amy, Lisa and I went out for Amy's birthday dinner. We went to the Kabuki Restaurant (Japanese food) at Westgate. It was really good! I plan on going back.
Saturday the 24th was mine and Jeff's 16th anniversary. The boys came to my work, to say happy anniversary and to give me some very pretty roses.
After work, we (all four of us) went out for dinner at Claim Jumper.
Sunday the 25th we were invited to the Bronder's house for a Luau, Memorial, Pool Party! It was fun - the water was way too cold for me, but I had no intention of swimming anyway. All the kids swam and they had lots of fun pushing each other into the pool.
Monday the 26th we were all home. I painted (and I'm still not finished), the boys played on their computers (of course) and Jeff wasted his time going to Fry's Electronics with his friend -- the shelves were empty!
Yesterday I was sick, the boys went back to school, Jeff went back to work and today, all is well.
That's all for now.

Tulips...

I received some very pretty tulips from a customer today!!!
She came in with a headache and said she was feeling ugly.
I gave her some highlights and cut off quite a bit of hair, then styled it.
She loved her new look.
She gave me the flowers because she said that I made her feel beautiful!

Crazy Hair Day

This week is "spirit week" at school. Monday was backwards day... they were supposed to wear their shirts backwards, but with a collared shirt, that is super annoying. Randy wore his like that anyway, but Keith didn't. Tuesday was "green day" - so they both wore green t-shirts. And yesterday was "crazy hair day". Today is "80's day", but we didn't know what to do for that. Tomorrow is "Disney day" -??? no clue what to do for that either.

Peruvian Aqueduct

Randy's project was to make a diorama of a Peruvian Aqueduct.
We had a fun time making it together.
The teacher said we should be very creative while doing it.
I think we did a great job!
He will have to present his diorama to his class and then it will be on display during the learning fair next week.

It's Raining

I don't think I'll ever live here long enough to be glad when it rains!! I'm sure it'll be coming down hard when I have to walk to the bus stop!! And of course it's super windy - so a fat lot of good the umbrella will do!! I suppose I won't melt.

A Random Act of Kindness...

Randy and I went to Starbucks today, because we think it's yummy. We ordered our drinks and when we went to pay, the girl at the register said that a lady bought a gift card and told her (the cashier) to give the gift card to the next person who came in with a child. So she handed me the gift card, saying that I was the first to come in with a child. That blew me away. The cashier said there was a little note inside. It was a card that said "This Random Act of Kindness Done in Loving Memory of Baby Nia Murphy 5/27/04". Well that almost made me cry and the cashier too. There is a web address on the card.... www.missfoundation.org While I was on the board of the MOMS Club, we did a fundraiser in order to donate money to this organization. The MISS Foundation provides crisis support and long term aid to families after the death of a child from any cause. I don't even know what to say... this lady, who lost a child is trying to make someone else happy with random acts of kindness. I feel that I need to do a random act of kindness because being the recipient of one is indescribable.

Back tracking a bit...

Friday was ladies night out. I went to Macayo's Mexican Kitchen with some friends for dinner and margaritas. The food was good, the drinks were good and we even had a very friendly visitor come and sit down at our table. His name might have been Darrell or Devin or anything else that starts with a "D". He was feeling no pain, but I'm not sure how he felt later, since his wife was also at the restaurant with him. He sat down with us and introduced himself and shook each of our hands and told us (numerous times) that he'd take all five us out if he weren't married. It was one of the funniest moments of the night.
Just a little bit funnier was Saturday at work -- it was 80's day. So we were supposed to dress up and do our hair 80's style. I tried to achieve 80's, but in my opinion I only achieved freak. I guess the 80's were full of those too, so it was ok. I even teased my hair!! Which I never did in the 80's. The really funny part was that people liked my hair that way - I got a ton of compliments. We didn't take any pictures though - so you'll just have to use your imagination.

The saga continues...

Yesterday Jeff started to put the laminate flooring down in the living room/dining room. Hopefully today we'll be able to finish! Then the painting needs to resume. We're getting there. Once the downstairs is done, I guess we can start thinking about upstairs - but not today. I'll think about it later.
Ace is slowly dealing with walking on the laminate flooring and the kitties are slowly starting to venture around the house while doggie is around.
I better go start doing something....
