Look closely at the drops of water - they are reflecting the flowers.
I love this picture!!

Time is almost up

Today is Friday and spring break is just about over. The boys go back to school on Monday. We haven't done much, but it's been fun and relaxing.
  • We've taken Ace to the dog park - which he loves.
  • We got Starbucks.
  • We rented Meet the Robinsons and I am Legend.
  • We tried to get a free playhouse, but when we got to the location, not only was the playhouse gone, but the actual house was no longer there either!!
  • We had lunch at Islands.
  • Met friends at the park.
  • We went to dinner at Black Angus.
  • We took Ace to the vet just to say hi and weighed him while we were there -
  • he weighs 80.4 pounds.
  • We went to the library.
  • Went to Walmart a few times.
  • Watched a few Suns games on TV.
  • Went to Target.
  • Took Ace on lots of walks.
  • Went to Mama and Papa's several times.
  • Put a ton of toys out in the shed.
  • We disassembled the trampoline - (forgot how big our yard was).
  • Went to the dentist.
  • Ate Chik-fil-A.
  • We've been enjoying this wonderful weather.
  • Got French Doors!! (But you already knew that.)
  • I got a pedicure.

And who knows what today will bring!

We got french doors...

to replace the sliding glass doors in our family room!! Jeff took out the old and put in the new (with a little help from Papa and our neighbor). I love my new doors!!! Thanks Homie!
Next project will be the laminate flooring. I can't wait to have it down, but I can wait to actually start putting it down.
The boys are still on spring break and only yesterday at one point Randy said he was bored. We fixed that and all is well since.
Easter was nice and quiet. We stayed home and did our own thing... the boys found their baskets in the morning and later found some eggs in the yard. They also spent a good part of the day playing on their computers. Old mama and old papa came over and brought the boys baskets too. Lucky boys - they got lots of chocolates, but at least they've both offered to share.
Here are a couple of pics of the boys loving Ace...

A typical spring break morning...

Homework and computing - that's how the day starts out!
Later we'll take Ace for a walk.
Keith will probably want to stay at Mama's.
Then Randy and I will be on our own for a while.
Maybe we'll go to the store, maybe we'll just enjoy the peace and quiet for a while.
We shall see.

The boys and Ace

It's Friday...

Hello spring break!! The boys have off for the next two weeks! We had parent teacher conferences yesterday. Both boys are doing very well and got good progress reports. They also both got a ton of work that they need to do over the break -- makes me wonder why they have break??? Oh well - I'm sure we'll get it done. And we'll get to stay home and be with doggie while we're doing it. Ace is adjusting to the good life pretty well. He is very comfortable at home. He's learning to master the stairs, he's walking on the tile perfectly well and he's learned that the house is his crate and he goes to the bathroom outside. The cats are still all too interesting to him, but I'm sure with time they'll all be hanging out together. We have yet to visit the dog park, but one of these days we're going to take him and let him tear it up! Ace loves getting attention - every day we've been at the bus stop waiting for the boys to get off and Ace gets swarmed by the kids getting off the bus - he loves it!
Jeff and the guys are going out tonight to eat at Claim Jumper and then they're going to do whatever it is that guys do when they go out. I get to do "girls night in" next week. Going to a friend's house - taking some yummy Italian style munchies and we'll be watching a movie to go along with our Italian theme.
The boys are enjoying Nickelodeon and their laptops. This should be a relaxing two weeks!
Need to go feed the doggie now!

Mama and I went to the assembly to see him get his award.
He was surprised! He didn't know he was getting it!!
Cool - good job Randy!!!!!!

The day started out sad...

Joe Beta is no longer with us. He survived being the class pet with Randy in kindergarten and has happily lived with us for 2 1/2 years. He wasn't doing well for the past few months and he finally gave up today. He now resides in the garden, near the lavender. :(

The day did get better. We got a crate for Ace and he seems to like it. He goes in there on his own, so I'll feel a little better leaving him alone when I go to work. We looked up Undercover Ace's stats!http://www.greyhound-data.com/d?i=1222153 He won 7 races - that's 7 Twinkies for him!! He has 2 brothers and 2 sisters and we know who his parents are - they show the whole family tree.
Just in case anyone was wondering, the cats have moved upstairs. The only one who ventures down once in a while is Ginger - she's a brave girl. Max has a nice little apartment under Keith's bed and Henry just roams around up there. We have a gate on the stairs that does not allow Ace to go up. Ace doesn't bother the little piggy - not in the least, not even when he sounds like a super fun little squeaky toy. The cats just need to stop running from Ace and then I think all will be well.
Keith went to his friend's house for a little while today. Randy watered the garden, the plants and the trampoline. We ordered Papa John's Pizza for dinner tonight, because it's pizza night - fundraiser for the school and I don't have to make anything for dinner!
Tomorrow, Thursday and Friday the boys have half days. Thursday are the parent teacher conferences. And the following two weeks they'll be off for spring break. Feels more like summer though - it was 84 degrees today! I was hot - I'm not ready for 110 degrees!!! We don't have any plans for the break - I guess we'll just be staying home loving the doggie!

We have our doggie!!

Meet "Undercover" Ace -

Undercover Ace was his racing name. We just call him Ace. Here he is on his bed, with his puppy and sportin' a cool bandana that Michele bought for him. What a lucky dog! Michele and family bought a bunch of cool things for our new addition. He has a Phoenix Suns shirt, two bandanas, a bag of snacky treats, a bone stuffed with cheesy yummies, a ball that even cleans his teeth and anouncements that Ace will have to sign before we send them out. Thanks Michele and family!!!! My mom and dad also bought Ace some teeth cleaning bones and some air freshener and some cleaning products!! LOL

Well, I'm going to go hug my doggie for a while!!

We got the phone call...

Last night Kari from Arizona Adopt a Greyhound called!! We got our choice of three dogs and we chose one!! His name right now is Ace, but we will be changing that once we meet him. He's three years old and he's white and red. Definitely a big boy - 82 pounds. He had to stop racing because of an injury to one of his hocks. He has a slight limp, but other than that, all is well. We get to pick him up on Friday!

Man it's windy today!

It's Sunday and we're all home!! I love today! We went to the Swap Meet. I wanted to get a shirt, but they didn't have the one that I saw last time. So I didn't get a shirt. The boys had hot dogs - seems like we only there for hot dogs because we left without getting anything else. We made up the lack of purchases at the Swap Meet by going to Lowe's and Home Depot. Jeff bought a couple more lights for the backyard at Lowe's and we bought some laminate flooring at Home Depot!!! WoooooooHooooooooooo!!! I'm going to have nice floor and NO carpet downstairs!!! I can't wait!
I'm waiting for my second interview about our Greyhound. I guess it's not going to be today, so at some point tomorrow I'll be getting the call! The count down to Doggie Day begins!!! 5 days! I want my doggie!!
There is a ton of laundry to do. Anyone up for it? I'm tired of it! But I better go and do it. :-(
